Dr Svetlana Carsten is an Honorary Fellow in Translation Studies at the University of Leeds where she was the Director of Postgraduate Programmes in Interpreting from 2001 to 2010. From 2007 to 2012, she led the National Network for Interpreting which until July 2013 was a part of the UK government funded Routes into Languages Programme. She has led projects which focus on the development of online interpreter-training resources and currently she leads the EU-funded ORCIT project (Online Resources for Conference Interpreter Training) in partnership with the universities of Comillas (Madrid), Charles in Prague, Heidelberg, ISIT (Paris), Thessaloniki and Vilnius. She continues her professional engagement with the language industry and holds visiting teaching positions at the University of Manchester and Vilnius University.
