I am a Glasgow-based freelance translator working from English and French into German. Originally, I am from the northeast of Switzerland, but have spent the last five years living in Scotland. I specialise in the marketing, business and tourism fields and I am also very interested in literary and journalistic translation. The more creative a project the better!

After a few years working as a primary school teacher in Switzerland, I started a BA in Translation at Zurich University of Applied Sciences and took the opportunity to spend one of the six semesters abroad. I enjoyed my time at Heriot-Watt University and the great city that is Edinburgh so much that I decided to return for a Master’s degree. I completed my MSc in Translation and Computer-Assisted Translation Tools at Heriot-Watt in 2011 and have since worked as a full-time translator. After graduating, I first moved to Glasgow where was employed as an in-house translator for a law firm and then, in 2013, I decided to take the plunge and start out as a freelancer.

When I am not translating, I am a part-time tutor for German as a foreign language (once a teacher, always a teacher) at the Centre for Lifelong Learning at the University of Strathclyde, and in my spare time I am a compulsive reader, enjoy bouldering and hill walking (I am Swiss after all) and am just trying to decide which language to learn next.

I joined ITI as a student and have since been an active member of the Scottish Network and more recently also of the MAT Network and GerNet. This year’s conference is my first ITI Conference and I am really looking forward to three days filled with inspiring talks and workshops. I hope to meet many new colleagues and to catch up with old ones. In the meantime, I would love to meet you on Twitter or LinkedIn.
