This “Meet the Delegates” thread is a great way to see who’s going to be at the conference and learn a little bit about them. When I read this call-to-action Tweet today, I couldn’t resist:

So here I am. My name’s Emma Goldsmith and I’m a Spanish to English medical translator, based in Madrid. I initially trained as a nurse in London and then moved out to Spain, where my work gradually shifted towards translation, playing the violin in a trio in between careers (yes, I’ve signed up for the Singing Translators and can’t wait!). My decision to become a translator was triggered by a friend, Ellen Kenny, MITI, some 25 years ago. We lost touch when she moved back to the UK, but I’m delighted to say we’re back in contact and will be meeting up at the ITI conference, a quarter of a century on.

You might know me through my blog, Signs and Symptoms of Translation, where I write about medical terminology and SDL Trados Studio, or we might have met in person at an ITI MedNet event, a MET meeting or at MedTranslate last year. But even if we haven’t met before, do come up and say hello in Newcastle. I look forward to meeting you.
