Iwan Davies

Iwan DaviesIwan Davies graduated from Heriot-Watt University with a BA(Hons) in Languages with Interpreting and Translation (LINT) in French and German in 1995, and is now a freelance translator based in Perth, Scotland. He works with his wife, Louisa, to provide German and French > English translation services for clients in the fields of IT, banking and finance through their company, Translutions Limited (www.translutions.co.uk). Alongside his regular translation work, Iwan is also active within ITI at network, regional-group and national levels, being Directory Editor and Webmaster of ITI German Network, Webmaster of ITI Scottish Network, a member of the organising committees for the ITI 21st Anniversary Conference in 2007 and the ITI International Conference 2009 having designed and maintained the websites for both of these conferences, a former tutor on the Professional Development Course and a current tutor on the Professional Support Group. He also runs the highly successful SDL Trados usergroup, TW_Users. He has a deep interest in technology for translators, from CAT tools to websites and the use of social and professional networking for freelancers.

Away from the world of translation, Iwan is kept busy by two young daughters and is a member of the Parent Council at his daughters' primary school, also maintaining the school website. In what remains of his spare time, Iwan enjoys riding his bike around the beautfiul Perthshire countryside, following the fortunes of the Welsh national rugby team and the Llanelli Scarlets and occasionally sampling the usually superb real ales available at Greyfriars in Perth, though not necessarily in that order!
