Sonia VandepitteSonia Vandepitte is a lecturer of English and translation at the Faculty of Translation Studies, University College Ghent, Belgium, and a researcher at the University of Ghent. She obtained a licentiate degree on syntax in Ghent, a MA-degree on intonation from UCL and a PhD on the expression of causality in Ghent. She taught at Royal Holloway University of London and was a Visiting Scientist at MIT. At UC Ghent, she took part in research funded by the Institution for the Promotion of Innovation through Science and Technology in Flanders on knowledge retrieval and the European Commission (Leonardo) on interpreting assessment. She has published on causality and its expression in language, knowledge retrieval, international teaching projects and translation/interpreting. As a member of the European Society for Translation Studies board, she has been its treasurer since September 2007.
