ITI Conciliation ServiceThe ITI is in a unique position amongst language service associations because it represents both freelancers and agencies. These two parties work together in a symbiotic relationship that is one of the most important in the language service industry. The ITI is therefore ideally placed - because it is independent, well respected and professonal - to act as an arbiter in disputes between buyers and sellers of translations. The service will provide an additional benefit to ITI members, both corporate and individual, and therefore encourage more members to join, and it would create a new revenue stream for the ITI. The service may be a benefit for members in disputes even if they don't actually use it - by suggesting the idea of using a conciliation service a disputing party may prompt the other party to make a settlement. This presentation outlines the reasons for setting up the service and how it will work.
