Cat Akana

Cat AkanaManaging director of Blue Planet Multicultural, Cat Akana is driven by a passion for languages and a personal mission to 'save Planet Earth'. With a degree in modern languages from Salford University, she has worked in various contexts in management,  sales and marketing including logistics, publishing, education, teacher training and translation. She has travelled widely, including in India, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Kenya and worked in Japan for seven years before moving to Catalonia, Spain.

In 2005, Cat founded Blue Planet Multicultural to share her vision of a harmonious planet where people make the effort to communicate in other people's languages and learn about their culture, thus promoting mutual understanding, cooperation and peace. The company aims to raise awareness through information, education and communication of the very real peril our beautiful blue planet faces, and to encourage people to play some part, however small, in preserving its beauty and diversity for future generations.

Cat currently also teaches at a university affiliated to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is studying for a Masters in Education for Sustainability at London South Bank University. She has volunteered for various NGOs including Greenpeace, Intermón/Oxfam, Acciónatura, ADENC and Progat.
