Anton Gerada FITI, AIIC

Born and lived in Malta up to University Education (B.A. in Latin, Italian, English). In 1967 moved to Italy to complete further studies at university level (Modern Literature). Started activity as translator and interpreter in 1973. Official translator and interpreter at the British Consulate in Cagliari up to 1990. Took up Italian nationality in 1995. Joined ITI as member in 1990.  Fellow of ITI since 2003. Conference interpreter since 1986. Full member of AIIC since 1998. Member of CRIC (Consorzio Romano Interpreti di Conferenza) from 2001 to 2006. Interpreter at conferences in Italy and abroad: Sardinia (Cagliari, Alghero, Porto Cervo, Porto Torres, Nuoro, Orosei, Sassari, and Tempio Pausania), mainland Italy (Bari, Ravenna, Florence, Spoleto, Venice, Rome, Perugia, Rimini, Genoa, Padua, and Milan), and abroad (Malta, Vatican City, France, The Netherlands, Ireland, UK). Court Interpreter at Lockerbie International Trial – The Netherlands. Since May 2004 accredited freelance interpreter (Maltese, English and Italian) at the European Institutions. Works mainly as interpreter for the EU in Brussels, Strasbourg and Luxembourg.

Attended most ITI Conferences since 1988. Met Danielle D’Hayer at one of these conferences. Married Danielle D’Hayer in 2003 and moved to London, where they both live.
