Philippa Hammond

Philippa Hammond is a freelance translator based in London. After working in-house as a translator in the legal field for a number of years, she eventually decided to take the plunge as a freelancer. In her former life as an in-house translator her use of technology was limited to MS Word, Outlook and Internet Explorer, with all their associated pitfalls. This makes her something of a late convert when it comes to newer, smarter technologies, but since going freelance she has introduced herself to more interactive platforms that allow her to communicate with the big wide world beyond her desk, and now feels right at home with the likes of Twitter, Delicious and RSS readers.

Philippa has maintained a professional blog at www.bloggingtranslator.com for the past two years, which she uses as a way of tracing her own development as part of the translation profession, whilst also allowing her to reflect and encourage debate on the industry as a whole.

Philippa is co-presenting Sustaining your career with social media/Web 2.0 with Sarah Dillon .
