Conference Dinner No ITI Conference is complete without a gala dinner, an opportunity to enjoy good food in special surroundings and to catch up on old friends and colleagues. The ITI International Conference 2009 is no different, and Saturday's conference business will this year be rounded off by a reception followed by a gala meal in the Library of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers at One Birdcage Walk. In addition, ITI has secured an after-dinner speaker who is both very knowledgeable about green issues and sustainability and who also has direct experience of working with translators and interpreters over the whole of his long and illustrious career!
Bill Giles OBE is a former BBC weatherman and presenter who has maintained his strong links to the worlds of meterology and broadcasting since his retirement. He will provide diners with entertaining, yet thought-provoking insights into meterology, broadcasting and climate change. For more information about Bill Giles, please see this short biography. No less illustrious are the surroundings chosen to host the dinner. The Library of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers holds hundreds of thousands of engineering publications, spanning a period of over 400 years. For wordsmiths, there can be no more inspiring location than the galleries and bookshelves of this grand Elizabethan-style room, clad in warm oak and overlooking St James's Park. |
